Last gasp win for CLUB at Zulte Waregem

Jupiler Pro League

The very dying seconds of the game at Zulte Waregem opened up the skies for Blue & Black, as Shandre Campbell's very, very late stunner made it 0-1 after very tight game in which Club saw the most of the ball, but had difficulty unsettling the Waregem defense. It would take a touch of magic to open it up, and that's what happened in minute 93 as Campbell saw his shot from way out end up in the top right hand corner.

Five changes to the team that had ousted Salzburg on Tuesday, as Nordin Jackers again manned goal, and Hugo Siquet come on at right back. In midfield, Aleksandar Stanković earned another start, seeing Cisse Sandra and Nicolo Tresoldi also awarded a spot in the Starting XI.

The usual study round took some time, both teams looking for that careful build-up, trying to find space. Possession was largely for Club, but not that this lead to many fine chances. The first half only saw a blocked shot by Siquet and an attempt trickling past by Tresoldi for Club, while the hosts tried to make good money with Opoku's speed up front, but Jackers was not exactly put to work in those first 45.

The second half ended in the same fashion: Club with the most possession, looking for that opener, and a first real threat came early on as Vanaken found Tresoldi, but the effort was cleared into corner kick. A dangerous high ball also called Jackers into action, clearing it from his goal in style. With thirty minutes to go, Club now geared up, but attempts by Sandra, Reis and Mechele all went missing.

With Seys and Sabbe now also on, Club upped the tempo even more, and Zulte Waregem was starting to see stars. As Sandra tried his luck, goalkeeper Gabriël stood his ground, and a Sabbe shot chipped off a defender. Club kept trying and pushing forward, but to no avail. Just when the game seemed to end the same way it started, Campbell, just on, found some space on the right, cut inside and fired it from way off to slam it into the top corner (0-1). A truly magnificent strike, helping Club to a 9 out of 12 as it packs its bags to make the trip to Glasgow in a few days.
